William Edgar Oddie, OBE (born 7 July 1941) is an English author, actor, comedian, artist, naturalist and musician, who first became famous as one of The Goodies.
A birdwatcher since his childhood in Birmingham, Oddie has now established a reputation for himself as an ornithologist, conservationist and television presenter on wildlife issues. Some of his books are illustrated with his own paintings and drawings.
Oddie’s wildlife programmes for the BBC include: Springwatch / Autumnwatch, How to Watch Wildlife, Wild In Your Garden, Birding with Bill Oddie, Britain Goes Wild with Bill Oddie and Bill Oddie Goes Wild. Bill is also President of the Birmingham-based West Midland Bird Club.

His other roles include Derailed, Sin City, Inside Man, Children of Men, The Bourne Identity, Gosford Park, and Elizabeth; The Golden Age. His 2009 releases include Duplicity where he rejoins Julia Roberts.
Armatrading was born in Basseterre, Saint Kitts in the West Indies and moved with her family to Birmingham, England, United Kingdom, in 1957.
Armatrading began writing lyrics and music at the age of 14. Her first job was working at Rabone Chesterman (makers of fine engineering tools), in Hockley, Birmingham. She was sacked from this job because she insisted on bringing her guitar to work and playing during tea breaks.
Founded in 1964 the Erdington, Birmingham based group soon found worldwide fame with their progressive rock style and fusion with classical music. With massive record sales in the USA, the UK and throughout the world, their hits include ‘Nights in White Satin’ and ‘Go Now’.

Born in Birmingham in 1958, actress, singer, TV presenter and broadcaster, Toyah shot to fame in the late 70’s and 80’s during the punk rock era. Voted best British Female Singer in 1983, she has since appeared on many prime TV programmes and continues to perform on occasions with her band.
Jeff was born in 1947 and is a Grammy award winning musician he was a member of The Move with Roy Wood and Bev Bevan and was one of the driving forces behind the highly successful ELO (Electric Light Orchestra).
Jeff’s career continued as a sought after songwriter, singer, guitarist and music producer. In 1988 he formed the Travelling Wilburys, with George Harrison, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan and Roy Orbison.

Born in 1972, Denise became a member of Birmingham’s famous Birchfield Harriers Athletics Club from an early age. Her specialist competition was the heptathlon.
She went on to acheive major success with gold medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. A sporting legend, Denise also formed part of the delegation that helped to win the 2012 Olympics for London.

Created in 1974 and produced from the ATV studios in Broad Street, Birmingham, Tiswas quickly became a national phenomenon, running until 1982.
Hosted by Chris Tarrant and Sally James it also starred Lenny Henry and Bob Carolgees plus many more famous names over the years. The original Tiswas studios are due to be demolished soon for a new £800M development.
Sir Simon was the Principal Conductor and Artistic Director of the City of Birmingham’s Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) from 1980 to 1998.
His achievements included relocating the orchestra to Broad Street’s world renowned Symphony Hall in 1991. He was awarded a CBE in 1987 and was knighted in 1994. He has since conducted orchestras all over the world and is now the Principal Conductor of the Berlin Philarmonic Orchestra.
